The Education and Skill Development Committee, PHD Chamber in association with IGNOU's School of Social Sciences organized a one-day National Summit on 'Academia-Corporate Tommorow' on November 9, 2011 at PHD House, New Delhi. The summit was a perfect plaform to bring together industry, educatonists and the government in order to discuss the benefits of academia-industry partnership in the field of education and skilling the students in order to prepare the youth to participate in India's economic growth.

The key note address in the augral session was delivered by Mr. Dilip Chenoy, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Skill Development Corporation. He highlighted that

there is an   urgent need to create   and develop a unified National Strategy on Sector Skill Councils which should involve participation   from both the academia   and industry so as   to bridge the gap between skilled and  unskilled population.   He also suggested that Employee Skilling Opportunity

Programmes  should  be  inculcated in the systen where retired professionals can partner with the associations and create connect between what is needed by the corporate and what is being delivered. Labour Market Informationa Systems also need to be created and   made  availble so that
